After years of joining LGBT film festival audiences, Angie & Jackie asked “How hard can it be to make a short film?” Funded by a small legacy from a homophobic uncle, they made a short documentary, CHILDSPLAY (2011), examining how children perceive the term ‘gay’. Spurred on by success and excitement they produced and directed other short documentaries, ANGIE & JACKIE FINAL CUT (2012) and MARK BUNYAN: VERY NEARLY ALMOST FAMOUS (2012) which screened all over the world including selection by Frameline San Franscisco, OUTview Athens, Queer Fruits Brisbane and many others, winning Shropshire Rainbow Film Festival Audience Choice Awards in 2013 and 2014 respectively. THE FRUIT SONG (2013), ANOTHER WOMAN’S SCENT (2013) and MOJACAR BELLA (2013) followed. Their latest short documentary FEMALE MASCULINITY APPRECIATION SOCIETY (2014) gives a snapshot of Wotever World’s queer ‘Gentlemen’s Club’ for women in London where female masculinity is greatly appreciated. They are currently working on several projects including HEAVENS TO BETSY, a lesbian Cinderella story set in a hair salon, interviews with LGBT unsung heroes, and co-writing their first feature film with Kate Johnston of TRU LOVE fame.
